A portmanteau combining the acronym WEF (World Economic Forum) with the internet slang suffix -maxxing. The suffix derives from the role-playing game concept of "min-maxing" (optimizing specific character stats at the expense of others) and denotes the extreme, often obsessive, optimization of a specific trait, habit, or lifestyle.
