**seated cat-cow pose** (*uncountable*)

1. *(yoga, chair yoga)* A gentle spinal mobility exercise performed while seated, usually on a chair, in which the practitioner alternates between two positions.  In the cat position, the practitioner draws the belly toward the spine, rounds the back, drops the head, rolls the shoulders forward, and allows the sit bones to shift forward into spinal flexion. In the cow position, the practitioner brings the sternum forward and upward, lifts the shoulders, allows the head to tilt back within a comfortable range, and shifts the sit bones backward into a gentle spinal extension. The hands rest on the thighs throughout.
